The app...
The app would be simple to use, as there would be photos or titles for each appliance and their cycles. The User would chose the appliance they want to use, then they would chose the cycle they wish to run. Using Wi-Fi or Bluetooth the app would connect to the appliance. The User would then press the run cycle button ( below) and the appliance would start.
A family member or carer would program the cycles by changing the settings and then there would be an option to lock the settings with a password. This is to ensure that the User can not accidentally program the appliance on to a dangerous cycle.
For meals (microwave or oven) there would be a barcode or QR scanner on the app that processes the information to heat/cook the meal and allow for cooling time to prevent burns.
I have been asked before " but different ovens have different heating up times?" the answer to this is simple- a thermometer that relays back to the other components.
Once the cycle ( meal) is finished and ready to be taken out, a pop up would appear on devices and TV in the User's house, stopping them from potentially forgetting about the cycle. The pop up could be changed to appear every X number of minuets.

The machines...
Due to the appliances being controlled on the app, the machines them selves would be a lot simpler, with only three buttons on the panel: On, Off and Run Cycle. This will make it easier and less confusing for the user.
The doors would have a optional lock on them ( assessable through the app) to prevent hand and mouth burns.
Older appliances would not necessarily be replace but have a new front panel and some rewiring done to connect them to the new system.
