2013 Bosch Technology Horizons Awards...
In 2013 I took part in the Bosch Horizons competition. The aim; to think of a way that technology could aids an ageing population. I drew inspiration from my brother and my great-grand mother and I finally came up with an app.
It would look and work very much like a communications program with pictures/buttons you could press to chose different cycles. These cycles could be used in dish washers, washing machines or ovens. The appliances themselves would only have three buttons, an off on and run. Whereas on the app, a carer or family member could program and personalise the cycles to suit the client. This would prove useful for a person with very bad memory problems because when it is done, a notification will pop up on the television, computer or mobile devise.
In the case of the oven this is incredibly helpful, it will run for the given time them allow another period where the meal cools down to a safe temperature. There is then no worry about burning themselves or overcooking/undercooking their food. The idea of having as few buttons as possible is to stop confusion where they can easily put on the wrong setting and the result will be catastrophic.
I also plan on pitching this idea on Stemettes Demo day ( Saturday the 15th of august 2015). I'm looking for someone to take this to the next level of development. If you want more information on this please do take a look at the other pages on this site or fill in the contact form and mention any queries in the comment section.
